Welcome to the webpage of The Catholic College of St Raphael and St Paul, located on campus at James Cook University, Townsville, Queensland, Australia!
The College is a Catholic College and promotes and encourages the ethos and values of its Catholic heritage. However, as our College is multicultural, it welcomes students from all beliefs, traditions and cultures. The College is comprised of St Raphael's Wing, which is an all-Womens' Wing housing 80 women, St Paul's Wing, which is a co-educational Wing housing 150 students. St Paul's has separate female floors and male floors and our new, co-educational Wing. The new building, as yet unnamed, is comprised of 70 rooms, two storeys, and have state-of-the-art living facilities, including individual split-system airconditioning. The new building will allow student access to fully equipped kitchens, study and common areas and boasts 98 car parks on site.
The College is located in a pleasant, tropical, garden environment. It has a spacious dining room area with servery, and all students dine in the College Dining Room, three times a day. This assists in creating a real sense of community and family. There are barbecue, recreational areas and sporting facilities, including a gym run by the college Student Association. The College promotes a vibrant spiritual and academic life and the Student Association within the College is responsible for the promotion of all cultural, sporting and social acitivities.
Each student accepted into the College is provided with a fully furnished bed/study room, with phone and internet access. Rooms are serviced weekly and linen (sheets and pillowcases) are laundered weekly as well. There is a College Library for individual study and group work and there are three computer rooms in the College. As well, there are a number of Common Rooms and Recreational rooms.
The day-to-day management of the College is undertaken by the Principal and the Assistant Principal who are responsible to the College Council which is comprised of 12 members. The Roman Catholic Trust Corporation for the Diocese of Townsville are the owners of the College and Bishop Michael Putney, D.D., Bishop of Townsville Diocese is at the apex of the Corporation.
