Testimonials

As cheesy as it is, Saints is truly a home away from home. Out of all the colleges, I personally believe Saints is by far the best. They go above and beyond to provide the best services for us, from amazing catering, facilities, cleaning, security, pastoral care, events, classes, and opportunities. There is never a dull moment at SCC and the environment encourages you to be your personal best, both academically and socially. One thing I really liked was how high scoring students are paired with first year students of the same degree to support them throughout the year. Needless to say, both the people and the environment have been so welcoming. Saints is a great balance of promoting academic excellence, mental health, and fun events.

I believe I have more to offer to this college and many more experiences I am keen to gain. Attaining some experience now I would love to help out the first years like the older years helped me this year, and contribute to the warm and friendly environment at Saints. Whether I am in the dining hall, common room, even laundry there is always someone there that is willing to have a chat. I have also really enjoyed and am incredibly grateful for the luxury of sheet changes, private bathrooms, regular cleaning, etc. All in all, I believe only being here for a semester and half this year has really made me more keen to come again next year.

Personally, I would 100% recommend this college to anyone studying any degree at JCU. Saints Catholic College is so welcoming and friendly from the staff to the students. The environment from the second I arrived has been so positive and supportive. It feels like my home away from home.

I have felt very at home here and have become very close with many of the cohort as we live together. One of my fears prior to coming here was finding accommodations that would provide good access to Halal food. From living here I have found SCC to be very well accommodating to this and I haven't had to worry about my meals.

Gosi, 1st Year Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (2020), from Miramichi, Canada.

I really enjoy the social aspect of living together with my friends and love the convenience of living so close to the University. I have been at the college for two years and with 2021 being my final year on college I wish to make it the greatest with lots of fun social events, many sporting and cultural events and of course lots of studying!!

SCC has provided me with a fun and welcoming environment to live in. Saints was pivotal in my first year because it allowed me to form friendships with those in my cohort, older years and also people in other degrees. In my second year, SCC let me solidify these relationships and it was also comforting to be around people this semester when classes were online. It allowed us to become close and interact with more members of the Saints community. I am excited to deepen the bonds with remaining residents next year and again get to know the first years and hopefully be a welcoming senior resident for them.

Saints provides me with a well rounded environment in which I am able to experience all aspects of University. It provides me with sport in which I can be interactive with my peers while also staying active and fit. It provides me with social opportunities that allow me to expand and grow as a person that will continue to help me throughout my life. Saints also provides me with an easy and affordable way to live on compass with little levels of stress.

SCC has provided me with a fantastic room, a great support network, good food and a good learning environment. This is the environment I would like to be in for the next few years of my degree.

When people hear that you live on a college, they make many assumptions. They assume that you have the best social life, they assume you have better access to academic support and they assume you have more opportunities to excel in sporting and other extra curricular domains. Although these are common assumptions and it's said that you shouldn't believe everything you hear,  I can guarantee that they are 100% true. Saints Catholic College is not only a college but a community. A community that I thought I would stay at for only one year but has since seen me through most of my degree. Anyone looking for a smooth transition from home should look no further than Saints.

With a wide range of social, sporting and cultural events throughout the year, Saints is able to offer a unique experience for every single one of its residents. Whether you’re competing in rugby, soccer or water polo against the other colleges, attending our annual College Ball, or performing with our college band, there’s something on offer for everyone. Combine this with a great academic support team and the convenience of being in walking distance to class every day, and it’s easy to see why Saints Catholic College is a place to not only succeed in your studies, but to also have a balanced lifestyle outside of class.

Jaydon, 4th year Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical) (2016), from Charters Towers, Queensland

Saints Catholic College made my time in Townsville incredible! As a first year student Saints offered me everything I could have wished for in a home away from home. A wonderful environment, great location and unforgettable friends. Living at Saints was a great experience and it gave me independence which comes with living away from home but it also provided a wonderful support network. Looking back on my time here I wouldn’t change a thing and I am very proud to have been a part of this community.

Lyndel, 4th year Bachelor of Pharmacy (2016), from Yeppoon, Queensland

"Don't come to Saints Catholic College!....Because you will never want to leave! I came to the College in 2012 with the expectation of only staying for my first year.  Now it's 2015 and I am in my graduating year of a Bachelor of Laws, and cannot imagine having spent my years of study anywhere else!  Saints Catholic College provides all the necessities of everyday life with the convenience of the University being across the road and the welcoming and home-like feeling of having a massive family supporting you 24/7. With a focus on academic success, balanced with amazing social events and the importance of compassionate pastoral care, this College will always be home to me.  Make it your home too.  You won't regret it."

Tamyka, 4th year Bachelor of Laws (2015), from Moranbah, Queensland
