Accommodation

Saints Catholic College is more than just a place to live while students complete their degrees. It will become your home away from home at JCU. The College is a vibrant community where our residents can make life-long friends and network with others in their degree course.

The College has five wings and accommodates 298 students. It has a special place in the educational structure of North Queensland as a Catholic residential college aiming to develop a community based on Catholic Christian values with an acceptance of all cultures and religions within the tertiary institution of James Cook University.

As a member of the College community, residents are expected to assume responsibility for their personal conduct. As well, all Collegians should be prepared to express a practical commitment to respecting and supporting the legitimate rights and values of others.

We understand that you will want to weigh up a lot of important aspects before you decide which accommodation Wing option is best for you. We have developed a cost and benefits comparison between on and off-campus accommodation.

The Personal Touch

All residents’ rooms are furnished however students are welcome to add their own personal touch.

You have a choice of personalising some of the provided items such as your Bed Quilt Cover (either Blue, Grey or Beige) and also the QI Phone charging Desk Lamp (Black or White).

Students can also decorate their room with photos or posters using blu-tac or supply their own bed linen if desired. In fact we would encourage you to bring your own pillow and bedspread/doona to make it a bit more like home.

Students may have a small bar fridge in their room.  The fridge is required to be placed on a steel tray which protects the carpet under the fridge. We generally have some fridges left by last years residents who we have bought the fridges from and if you get in early you can grab one of these at a very cheap price. Just ask our friendly staff at reception when signing your contract. (Trays are provided by the college office for all fridges.)

The kitchens on each floor level are equipped with an oven, microwave, jug, toaster and family-sized refrigerator.  We do not allow cooking in the rooms so if you bring toasters, electric kettles, rice cookers or sandwich makers these must be used in the common room kitchens.
